Coming April 12th, the sky at the Shankumugham beach will come alive with flying kites of myriad colours and shapes.
International Centre for Intellectual Training and Empowerment (INCITE), is hosting a mega carnival called ‘INCITE Travancore Carnival’ from April 12th to 17th at the beautiful sands of Shankumugham Beach, Trivandrum. The 6 day carnival aims to create awareness on the needs of the differently-abled and disadvantaged sections of the society and provide them with the means to lead a quality life.
The kite festival which is a part of the ‘INCITE Travancore Carnival’ will have 1 Lakh kites of all shapes and colours flown by the participants. These kites are not just ordinary kites, they are special in that they carry slogans and messages on themes like national integration, communal harmony, gender security, prevention of cancer, alcoholism, smoking, and many social and moral values.
Apart from kite flying, there are many more interesting segments in the carnival. For the gourmets, a treat awaits from Raj Kalesh’s Kerala Food Festival featuring ethnic dishes from Malabar to Kanyakumari.
Creative minds can compete and participate in events relating to Fine Arts, Applied Arts, and other creative areas. The visitors can also look forward to visual treats in the form of sand sculptures and performances of traditional performing arts. For the job seekers and students in trivandrum, there will also be educational and job fares.
So come to Shankumugham and relive your childhood among the kites in the skies.
